Some ultrafast laser chains are synchronized with a masterclock having a jitter of 100s of picoseconds. To operate an AXIS ultrafast streak camera, one needs a trigger signal with a jitter lower than 15 ps.

The AXIS synchronization unit solves this problem by generating triggers signals from 80MHz optical pulse of the oscillator. It also acts as jitter free delay generator which can control the delay between 0 and 32 ns with steps of 25 ps.
